Community radio shows a huge amount of support for Australian music, with almost 40% of music played coming from local artists. Taste-making presenters excel at giving airtime to an incredible spread of what Aussie artists have to offer. The Amrap Metro and Amrap Regional Charts provide insight into what’s getting airplay and attention on community radio. Here’s the lowdown on some artists charting this week.

Divide and Dissolve (pictured above) - #1 Amrap Metro

This duo’s striking combination of metal force, symphonic reach and ambient atmospheres has taken them to the top of the Amrap Metro charts with their latest instrumental single, ‘Resistance’. Now the album Abomination is upon us and the pair is set to tour Canada in March, but back at home, Divide and Dissolve’s confronting slab of sound is still front and centre at Brisbane’s 4ZZZ and Melbourne’s 3RRR.

Mia Dyson - #1 Amrap Regional

Approaching album number six, Mia Dyson has yet again given us another spin on her brand of roots music with her latest single ‘Fool’ – an upbeat and melodic number that stomps with a load of Southern soul grit. Mia has always been a favourite at regional community radio, who supported her from humble beginnings treading the boards playing solo blues guitar. It comes at no suprise to hear ‘Fool’ booming out through Bellingen’s 2BBB and Tank FM in NSW’s Macleay Valley to give it this week’s top spot on the Regional chart.

Rackett - #6 Amrap Metro

Rushing out of 6blocks with their glamtastic post-punk, the Sydney trio’s new single ‘Alive’ feels like the prelude to a rock opera we didn’t know we needed. Equal parts drama and rifferama, ‘Alive’ is bristling with a vitality that doesn’t let up, riding that wave all the way to the top of the Amrap Metro Chart this week. Melbourne’s Triple R and Brisbane’s 4ZZZ are leading the way in airplay for Rackett and their merry sonic charge.

Timberwolf - #3 Amrap Regional

One of the sunniest and most sensuous songs on the AirIt site is from Adelaide’s Timberwolf (aka Christopher Panousakis). ’Jacaranda Sunsets’ is a glorious slice of suburban pop if ever we heard one. This sweet ode to summer pleasures is riding high regionally with Lismore’s Triple Z leading the way for rural airplay. Fresh for 2018 and fast following Timberwolf’s 2017 debut album Ikaros with some new feels to his work, if this hints at a new direction then we can’t wait for more.

Indigenoise - #6 Amrap Regional

Much like kindred spirits Kardajala Kirridarra, Byron Bay’s Indigenoise are weaving ancient visions into modern sounds with their majestic new single, ‘Euphoria’. The group pledge allegiance to hip hop in their vision to bring traditional Indigenous stories into the contemporary landscape. Topped by the soaring lead vocal of Roslyn Barnett, ‘Euphoria’ is a shimmering piece of electronica that truly sings with a magnetic force. Signed by mighty Queensland label Hydrofunk, Indigenoise are getting a lot of love in their hometown via Bay FM as well as West Australia’s HFM and more.
