Sync Watch: Tame Impala among the Aussies on FIFA 21 soundtrack

A stack of Australian acts have landed on the soundtrack for the official global football video game FIFA 21.

The game's soundtrack is widely considered to reflect a vibrant cross-section of contemporary music in each year of release, with several musicians rocketing into the public consciousness after featuring on the soundtrack.

The long-running EA series will drop its next edition on October 9, with more Aussies joining the soundtrack than have been seen in some time.

The main FIFA 21 soundtrack features 'Is It True' by Tame Impala, as well as 'Sacrifice' by rising Aussie-born singer-songwriter Chloe Black.

With FIFA 21 coming with the second edition of Volta Football, a small-sided mini-game and journey, there are two separate soundtracks for the second year running.

Over on the Volta soundtrack, there's Alison Wonderland x QUIX's track 'TIME', Flume's team-up with Toyo Y Moi 'The Difference', Sia's 'Little Man - Exemen Works' and 'Grasshopper' by Tkay Maidza.

While Flume and Alison Wonderland have had previous songs feature on the soundtrack, Tkay Maidza is one of several acts making their debut.

Maidza posted the lineup on Twitter, with a message of thanks.

"Grasshopper (!!) is on the @EASPORTSFIFA soundtrack. ahh this is so sick so grateful!!!"

First released in 1993, the FIFA franchise is listed in the Guinness World Records as the best-selling sports video game franchise in the world, selling over 282.4 million copies.

Other Aussies to have featured on FIFA soundtracks in recent years include Sampa The Great, Ivan Ooze, Confidence Man, Courtney Barnett, Mansionair, DMA'S, SAFIA, Empire Of The Sun and more.
