The Voice Australia returned to Nine on Monday night after taking a break for Sunday's State Of Origin.

It was the top-rating entertainment program with 832,000 five-city metro viewers, making it the fifth-most watched overall, only behind news programming.

The Voice welcomed megastar Adam Lambert, who performed his latest single 'New Eyes'.

Night one of The Finals saw coaches Boy George and Kelly Rowland forced to make heartbreaking culls from their teams.

Another of the highlights was Madi's performance of 'Slave 4 U' atop a pyramid of half-dressed men.

Lambert also featured in a Nine special called The Show Music Go On - The Queen + Adam Lambert Story, which failed to feature in the Top 20 most-watched shows on Monday night.

The Finals continue Tuesday night (June 25) on Nine.
