Down On The Upside | Soundgarden
The album that’s literally changed my life was, probably surprisingly,Down On The Upside by Soundgarden.
Obviously I don’t really play music like Soundgarden but they were one of my favourite band and Chris Cornell always played guitar in drop D tuning, so when I was learning to play guitar I started playing in drop D, and from then on I always played in that tuning.
To this very day, all the songs that I’ve played [are in drop D] – and it’s an unconventional tuning when you play the type of music that I play.
So that album changed my life, because the way I play guitar is because of that album, and that band - and I still do, to this day, play in drop D.
