The price of smokes are going up again. On the flip side, The Chats are on the up too.

The Sunshine Coast punk rockers sit on the brink of a first Top 40 appearance in the U.K. with their second album, Get Fucked (via Bargain Bin), which appears at No. 36 on the midweek chart.

Get F*cked is the follow-up to 2020’s High Risk Behaviour, which failed to make an impact on U.K. Top 75, but made an impression in Australia, where it debuted at No. 5 on the ARIA Chart, scored a pair of ARIA Award nominations, and won for best independent punk album or EP at the 2021 AIR Awards.

Get Fucked is turning-on music fans and critics who love their music as raw as tartare.

The NME gave it four-out-of-five stars, its reviewer Ali Shutler remarking: “This record is faster, more furious and more direct than anything The Chats have done before.”

The Queenslanders, Shutler notes, “come for everyone and anyone trying to ruin the feel-good party vibes. Poking fun at ticket inspectors, beach racists and boy racers, this record finds them fighting jobsworths and ignorance with laughter.”

The Chats' Eamon Sandwith, Matt Boggis and Josh Hardy will hit the road from next month in support of the new album, starting Sept. 10 at the Odeon Theatre in Hobart.

North America tour dates will follow through October, with the U.K. and Europe leg booked from May 2023.

Whether The Chats crack the Official U.K. Albums Chart won’t be known until the tally is published late Friday (Aug. 26).

Coincidently, Get Fucked isn't the only album with a spicy title to debut on the chart blast.

Demi Lovato's eighth studio effort Holy Fvck is set for the U.K. Top 10, with a No. 6 appearance on the chart update.
