Taylor Swift scores longest #1 in Hot 100 history with 'All Too Well'

Taylor Swift is riding high on the success of her re-recorded version of 2012's Red.

Red (Taylor's Version) debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 with 605,0000 equivalent units shifted. A figure compounded of 369,000 pure purchases, 227,000 streaming equivalents, and 9,000 track sale equivalents. 26 tracks from the re-recorded release of her 2012 record appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 (dated Nov. 27).

The record is the second-largest debut on the Billboard 200 in 2021, following Drake's Certified Lover Boy — which launched with 613,000 equivalent units.

With Red (Taylor's Version), Swift emerges with the longest number one song of all time, with her ten-minute update on album centrepiece 'All Too Well.'

The track, which marks Swift's eighth #1 song, beat out a record previously held by Don McLean's 'American Pie,' which runs just short of nine minutes long.

The original version of 'All Too Well', which was not conceived as a single upon its 2012 release, runs at five and a half minutes. The track initially peaked at No. 80 on the Hot 100 — in the years since its release, it's become the crown jewel in the Taylor Swift discography.

Billboard combined the statistics for the newly recorded standard-length song, with totals for the extended version of the track 'All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault).' The 10-minute version of the song accounted for a larger percentage of the song's activity last week — 62% of streams and 78% of sales — qualifying it as the longest #1 hit of all time at 10 minutes and 13 seconds.
