Sub Pop have got their own branded airplane

Alaska Airlines have revealed a plane covered in various Sub Pop logos to celebrate the record label's 30th anniversary. Pitchfork reports the Boeing 737-800 airplane will be in regular service along the West Coast of America from today.

Sub Pop co-president/founder Jonathan Poneman said in a statement, “The jet’s wrapping makes it look like a Sub Pop musician’s instrument case, only in much better condition. It’s definitely the sickest jet on the tarmac!”

The managing director of brand marketing and advertising for Alaska Airlines, Natalie Bowman, added “This partnership brings together two independent, local brands that are committed to doing things a little differently.” In 2016, Alaska Airlines and Sub Pop joined together to offer complimentary music from the label on flights.

In it's thirty years as a record label, Sub Pop has released albums from Sleater Kinney, Beach House, Father John Misty, and heaps more. The label won a Grammy this year for the packaging of Father John Misty's Pure Comedy.

This year’s Sub Pop offerings have included new albums from Beach House, Father John Misty, and Frankie Cosmos. Later this year the label will release the “Rick and Morty” soundtrack, a new Mudhoney album, and a bunch more from their huge lineup of artists.

Watch the video for Sleater Kinney's "A New Wave" below. The video is a collaboration between the band and Bob's Burgers. The Bob's Burgers soundtrack was recently released on vinyl by Sub Pop.
