After 14 years, Brisbane-based music industry identity Stephen Green is stepping down as vice president at QMusic and its management committee.

“My business (and family) needs me more than ever in 2021 and to leave with the organisation in a strong place seems a fitting time," he wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

“QMusic is a completely different organisation the one I joined (it’s solvent for starters) and the industry is a completely different industry.

“The most satisfying thing about working on building a community like QMusic is that it’s not about us. We don’t own it and everything’s about putting in, not taking out.”

Green programmed the association’s flagship BIGSOUND in 2008 and 2009.

Last 2019, while celebrating its 25th year, QMusic named Angela Samut as its new CEO. She replaced Joel Edmondson after five years with Screen Queensland.

In his post he described the “privilege” he felt at seeing BIGSOUND and the Queensland Music Awards grow as effective forces, and learning about First Nations culture.
