Spotify has launched a new hip hop show, based off its successful playlist A1.

A1: The Show will combine music and talk, similar to a radio format, to provide context to the tracks that sit within the A1 playlist. High-profile names that are currently featured in the playlist include The Kid LAROI, OneFour, Hooligan Hefs, HP Boyz and Sydney Yungins.

The show will be hosted by 24 Karat Kev, Jazmine Nikitta and Jade Le Flay, who will showcase emerging local and overseas acts and discuss how local listeners are responding to the playlist.

Episodes of the program will be released weekly, with the first instalment including a chat with Sydney Yungins and discussion on Ay Huncho’s latest release, 'Upgrade'.

“The Australian hip-hop industry has been booming and A1: The Show is one of the few spaces for the genre to be discussed on a national level,” Peter Stevens, Spotify AUNZ senior editor, said in a statement to The Industry Observer.

“It provides an opportunity to elevate the voices of local hip hop talent that contribute to the A1 playlist.”
