SoundCloud has finally launched its app on the Windows Store

Music streaming platform SoundCloud has launched onto Microsoft’s Windows Store after years of unavailability on the digital storefront.

Microsoft's Windows Store seems like a fairly obvious place for a music streaming platform like SoundCloud to appear, but for years now it's been nowhere to be seen on the digital storefront.

That's finally changed, with Microsoft announcing that SoundCloud's Windows app is available now, not only for Windows 10 PCs, but also for users of the Xbox One video game console.

While SoundCloud has of course been available to PC users through their browsers, Windows Store apps have become a much more prominent part of Microsoft's strategy since the introduction of the Windows 10 operating system, and it only makes sense for a platform like SoundCloud to aim for full integration into that user experience.

The app promises to bring the standard range of SoundCloud features across from the version found in browsers and mobile apps, but with an updated user interface that also allows for voice control through Microsoft's Cortana, allowing users hands-free playback control.

While the Windows 10 version of the app is still listed as being in 'beta', it will most likely be pain (and bug) free, and is available on the Windows Store as of today.
