The historic B&T Women in Media Awards has come to a close for yet another successful year, with Spotify's very own Sophie Paterson winning the Public Relations award.

The annual awards celebrated their seventh successful night at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf, ushering in over 500 invited attendees to celebrate and honour the incredible women paving the way in the Australian media industry. Winners of the night included ABC's Jocelin Abbey and BMF's Aisling Colley.

The awards were presented by Bauer Media and hosted by triple j radio host Gen Fricker, with 21 celebratory awards in different categories being handed out over a gala dinner. Throughout the night there were also 30 Power List winners on top of the category awards.

Unfortunately, Spotify's Sophie Paterson couldn't make the event, but did issue this statement a few weeks prior about her position at the company:

“I’m lucky to be surrounded by a number of like-minded women (and men) who believe in great work, great music and a progressive approach to gender equality.

“Spotify is known for its inclusive and accepting workplace culture, one that celebrates and strives for diversity and discovery in all its forms.

“You could say it comes with the brand culture, but supporting this is tangible workplace policies, such as our best-in-class parental leave policy, that make it easier to balance work and life commitments.

“For me, it’s always been a conscious choice to work with strong female role models and emerging female talent. I would recommend this approach to anyone else starting out in comms.”

Events director Viv Luo had this to say on the night:

"B&T Women in Media Awards is our chance to reflect back on and celebrate the achievements of all the women in our industry and give them a boost to take the next step in their careers. This program is also my contribution to creating a more equal future and a more levelled playing field for those looking to enter the industry."

We congratulate Sophie on all of her hard work at Spotify, and look forward to see what she will accomplish next.
