Qantas have axed music from in-flight entertainment

Qantas has reportedly axed music from their flights, as Australian Frequent Flyer reports. Radio stations, playlists and CD library collections have all been removed from the airlines domestic and some international entertainment services.

Replacing the music will be a limited number of podcasts. Two podcast channels have been launched 'talking business' and 'kids audiobooks'.

Music is still offered as a service on some of the airline's international aircraft's, including the Airbus A380, Boeing 747, Boeing 787 and Airbus A33os.

A Qantas spokesperson has made a statement about the companies decision to remove music following a "comprehensive review". They added, “Our research showed that fewer and fewer of our customers are tuning into the radio and music channels. It also indicated that many passengers on both domestic and international flights bring their own device with music already downloaded".

APRA AMCOS CEO Dean Ormston has tweeted the news, saying he'd like to speak to Qantas directly:
