PPCA & The Australia Council for the Arts announce recording grant recipients

The PPCA and Australia Council for the Arts have today announced the recipients of five grants, offered by way of a unique partnership between the organisations.

Having launched in 2013, this year sees the fourth round of grants offered, with five innovative artists being chosen to each receive a $15,000 grant to aid their current projects.

Senator The Hon Mitch Mitch Fifield, Minister for the Arts, said that the partnership between the PPCA and the Australia Council for the Arts was greatly supported by the Australian Government.

This year's grants have been offered to a wide variety of artists of different musical background who will be able to continue work on current musical projects. This year's grant recipients include Katie Wighton, whose grant will help aid in the recording & promotion of the second album from alternative country group All Our Exes Live In Texas, David Leha aka Radical Son, whose grant help aid in the recording of the YANAYA project; a collaboration of first nation artists in both language and song, and Laura Jane Lowther aka KUČKA, whose grant will help aid in the recording and release of her debut record.

Two other musicians to receive grants this year are Chris Read, whose grant will aid in the recording and release of a new album with the Irrunytju Band, a musical group from the Ngaanyatjarra community in Western Australia, and Ella Thompson, who will use the grant to aid in the recording and release of her second record Like Running Water

Previous recipients of grants from the PPCA and the Australia Council for the Arts include Robbie Miller, Gordi, and Johnny Mackay, of Children Collide and Fascinator fame.
