Aussie electro rockers Pendulum have exemplified the old showbiz saying "the show must go on" by going ahead with their sold-out Sydney show last night, despite vocalist Rob Swire not being able to sing.

In a statement posted to their social media last night, the band explained that following performing with a respiratory illness in Perth, Swire was diagnosed with acute vocal haemorrhage and advised not to speak or sing.

This didn't stop the quintet from powering on.

"We've thought long and hard about what to do tonight," the statement detailed.

"We don't want to cancel, having not cancelled a single show in 12 years. Rob will be on stage performing with the full band as usual playing alongside the album versions of the vocal."

The band offered refunds but punters were adamant on Twitter that real fans would love the gig, with live or recorded vocals.

From all reports on social media the gig went off without a hitch, with some fans dubbing it the greatest show ever.
