Paul Kelly & The Teskey Brothers heading to ABC TV's 'The Sound'

Russell Crowe will join as the guest co-host for the second episode of Mushroom Vision and ABC TV's new music program The Sound.

The full musical lineup has been announced for episode two, set to air this Sunday, July 26 at 5:30pm, with Paul Kelly & Paul Grabowsky, The Teskey Brothers, James Reyne, Julia Stone, San Cisco, Cub Sport, Eves Karydas and Sycco all to perform.

The show brings Aussie music back to Aussie free-to-air television, with performances, collaborations and interviews, and two thirds of the show featuring new material.

"It’s great to have our music back on free to air TV. All power to The Sound. Long may it run," said Paul Kelly, who'll team up to perform with Paul Grabowsky.

"I’m excited and honoured to be appearing with Paul Kelly on The Sound," added Grabowsky. "Having grown up in the ‘70s, the idea of sitting in front of a colour telly on Sundays at 5.30 was an integral part of my alternative music education.

"Now we can all do it again! And to be playing this exquisite song by the great Mr K just makes it even more special."

The first episode drew rave reviews on social media, host Jane Gazzo and music news correspondent Zan Rowe will be joined by Academy Award winner Crowe for the next episode.

"I feel like we’ve all been waiting for a music show to come back on TV! Really looking forward to watching and very glad to be a part of it," said Josh Teskey.

“The Sound will feature artists from all walks of our incredible local industry, with more than two-thirds of each episode focused on showcasing new songs. I’m thrilled that ABC, the home of iconic programs like Countdown, Recovery and rage, have partnered with us to support local music in such difficult times,” said Michael Gudinski when the show was first announced.

Ahead of episode two of The Sound, viewers can catch-up on the first episode either on iView or this Saturday, July 25 at 12.30pm on ABC.
