Dashville has announced a new creative co-operative.

The new label, Dashville Community Records, opens a new chapter for Dashville, the regional creative team behind long-running festivals The Gum Ball, Dashville Skyline, and Thrashville.

According to a press release, the new venture is "[a] bunch of musical mates embracing the binding nature of a ‘punk ethos’ to trudge further into the creative void. Providing collective strength, to the art of making and capturing fine original music and sharing it with the world.

"To uphold the values of true art, and work together in some kind of solitude against the AI - algorithmic beast."

Recording artists supporting the launch includes Johnston City, Magpie Diaries, Georgie Winchester, Kingsley James, CJ Stranger, Max Marvell, Dave Wells, and Joey Leigh Wagtail.

While the label is relatively new, a number of new releases are ready to roll out.

Some current releases include Magpie Diaries' LP Some Kind of View and CJ Stranger's EP Folk Songs for End Times.

"Dashville honestly feels like a legacy held bolt upright by this boundless creative community of music lovers," Dashville founder Magpie shares. "The music has always been the vessel that gets us through. And the people making the music, well they’re driving the boat. That’s where it all comes from, that’s the inspiration to do what we do."

Magpie adds that the launch of Dashville Community Records "feels like a pretty natural step forward to be honest, creating our own independent label has been talked about for quite sometime, usually late after a gig somewhere, so it’s cool to be finally making it official."

The official launch party for the new Dashville Community Records will be held at The Gum Ball later this month on Sunday, April 26th.
