Aussie music licensing platform has launched a new subscription service it says will make it "the Netflix of licensed music for content creators."

The new, unlimited-used subscriptions have been set up on three tiers, with a view to better cater a growing content creator market.

“It has never been easier to license great, independent music for your productions," says Melodie managing director Evan Buist.

"Now you can simply sign up and pay a monthly or annual fee to enjoy unlimited access to our catalogue, knowing that every track is pre-cleared for use across all media, worldwide, in perpetuity.”

The four tiers are range in price from $15 to $149. They are:

  • Single - for individuals.
  • Business - aimed at small businesses
  • Premium - for larger business
  • Enterprise - for companies with over 50 employees

*The Premium and Enterprise subscriptions come with a one-click mass playlist download option, as well as priority support and music searches.

“We’re living in a time where every minute, 500 hours of content are uploaded to YouTube alone," adds Buist.

"We’re making it easier for content creators to source and license fresh, quality music with none of the legal headaches.”

Melodie is also working with Uncanny Valley to integrate new technologies across the platform.

"Our technologies will allow Melodie to better identify and classify the emotional attributes within a music track. From AI-driven mood clustering to track comparison analysis, we have some game-changing tech on the way," says head of music & innovation Charlton Hill.

"We’re making it easier for content creators to source and license fresh, quality music with none of the legal headaches.”

In other news out of Melodie, a new hire has been announced, with ex TMN alumni Josh Shimmen joining the team as sales director (ANZ).

Shimmen is also formerly of BMG and Audio Network, and joins forces with former colleague Craig Hodges.
