Australian Music Association urges musicians to create their own stages for Make Music Day 2021

The Australian Music Association (AMA) has shared details of this year's Make Music Day event, urging musicians around the country to 'create their own stages' to take part in the celebration.

Taking place on Monday June 21, Make Music Day encourages the public to take part in concerts, performances, music lessons, jam sessions and other events, with this year marking the third year that Australia has participated in the global event.

Participants are able to register their event for free on the Make Music Day website.

Ambassadors for the 2021 edition of Make Music Day include Kate Ceberano, Lee Kernaghan, Sarah Carroll, Jack Howard and Andy Baylor, while Create NSW, Community Music Victoria and the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia have partnered with AMA for the initiative.

Rob Walker, AMA's executive officer, underscored the importance of Make Music Day on Australia's musical calendar.

“The AMA is excited to give musicians of all levels the opportunity to create their own stage on Make Music Day," Walker said.

"The synergy of purpose between the partners driving the event is striking, and we look forward to engaging our communities in live music on June 21, 2021."

Live Music Office's Lucy Joseph also made note of Make Music Day's role within local musical communities.

“Make Music Day is all about allowing communities of audiences and musicians to engage with each other for one day to make free, accessible music and to celebrate the role that music plays in our everyday lives,” Joseph said.
