The Voice Australia will air on Seven next year, ending a nine-season run on the Nine Network.

Seven is set to revamp the show in 2021, and has already locked in Sonia Kruger as host, while the rumour mill is already swirling with tips for who'll join as judges.

It's currently unclear whether any of Guy Sebastian, Delta Goodrem, Kelly Rowland or Boy George will return, with Kylie Minogue and Keith Urban emerging as hot tips to re-join the show.

Minogue previously appeared as a judge on the third season of the show, and has also appeared as a judge and coach on The Voice UK.

Urban was part of the panel on the first season of The Voice in Australia, before being replaced by Ricky Martin.

Seven CEO James Warburton called the acquisition "a coup for Seven."

"Adding The Voice to our 2021 program slate is another brick in the wall of our content-led growth strategy of using proven, power formats.

"The Voice is a television megabrand that will deliver on our promise of more tentpoles, audience growth and consistency across the year.

"It is a strong performer in BVOD and will give audiences what they want: the world’s best television."

However, Nine didn't exactly give the format a shining endorsement in sending it off after nine seasons.

“Unfortunately due to the age of the show and declining demographic profile, The Voice had become by far the poorest financial performer on our slate," a Nine spokesperson said.

"We wish 7 well in their quest to revive yet another Nine show.

“We are very excited about the schedule we have now set for reinvigorating our slate and we will have  announcements at our upfronts on September 16.

"We remain focussed on our audience and the financial performance of Nine.”

Other judges to have appeared on the format in Australia include Joel & Benji Madde, Seal, will.i.am, Jessie J, Ronan Keating and Joe Jonas.
