Island Records Australia Signs Jack Gray, Drops 'Dumb Sh*t'
To celebrate his new deal with Island Records Australia, Gray drops the fresh cut “Dumb Shit”, his first with his new label home.

Jack Gray is the latest signing Island Records Australia, and he has new music to prove it.
The Mackay-born, Los Angeles-based alt-pop singer-songwriter has a lot going on. He’s just arrived in his homeland for a secret fan event Thursday, July 17th in Sydney, for which he gave away tickets via his Instagram account.
To celebrate his new deal, Gray drops the fresh cut “Dumb Shit”, the first with his new label home. A chilled-out nod to a misspent youth, the track got its premiere Wednesday night with Ash McGregor on triple j’s Home & Hosed.
“Dumb Shit” was produced by Gray, co-written with Jon Hume and Jillian Shea, and will be housed on his upcoming full-length debut album, which he has spent the past year working on from songs he has written over recent years.
“It’s really about those years in high school and that feeling of just being foolish, spending time with your mates and trying things for the first time,” he says of the new single. “Feeling like you can do anything and just blame it on being young, or young at heart.”

Gray, a self-produced, multi-instrumental artist, co-wrote, performed, and produced nearly every part of the LP, which is expected to arrive in 2026.
“Dumb Sh*t” is accompanied with cinematic music video, co-directed by Bryce Gheisar (Wonder, A Dog's Purpose) and Jem Matthews (White Bird) and shot in L.A. Miles Murphy was director of photography.
The new signing isn't an unknown talent. He's composed a film score, had songs picked up by emerging K-pop acts, and toured extensively throughout ANZ and North America, supporting the likes of Tate McRae, Mahalia, Matt Corby, Maisie Peters, and Ella Vos.
His global streams top 30 million, and his social accounts have more than 80,000 combined followers.
The lucky fans who snagged tickets for his secret show will enjoy a meet and greet with Gray and acoustic performance of new music.
Australian and New Zealand audiences will get more chances to familiarise themselves with Gray when he supports US artist Daniel Seavey this August on his rescheduled 'Second Wind Tour'.
At Island Records Australia, a division of Universal Music Group, Gray joins a roster that includes Peach PRC, Baker Boy, Vera Blue, Hellcat Speedracer, REDD and others.
