Hugh Jackman to Host 2025 Global Citizen Festival
The all-day concert will feature performances by Tyla, Ayra Starr and Mariah the Scientist, and more yet to be unveiled in the weeks ahead.

Hugh Jackman returns as host for the Global Citizen Festival, with The Weeknd and Shakira locked-in as the headliners.
Set for September 27th on Central Park’s Great Lawn, the all-day concert will feature performances by Tyla, Ayra Starr and Mariah the Scientist, and more yet to be unveiled in the weeks ahead.
Jackman will notch his eleventh year as host. The Australian entertainment, who also serves as Global Citizen Ambassador, says he's "thrilled by the progress we’ve made over the years."
The "growing impact of the Global Citizen movement touches every corner of the world, and I’m eager to advocate alongside my fellow ambassadors, performers, world leaders, and private sector executives to leave the world better than we found it," he remarks in a statement.
Global Citizen, the international advocacy organisation, is the brainchild of founder and CEO Hugh Evans, the Australia-born philanthropist who, in his pre-teen years, identified wrongs in the world and set about solving them.
The 2025 Global Citizen Festival campaign will focus on providing energy access for 1 million people across Africa, ensuring 30,000 children around the world can access a quality education and football, in partnership with FIFA, mobilising $200 million to protect 30 million hectares of the Amazon rainforest, and registering 40,000 New Yorkers to volunteer across The Big Apple.

The announcement comes just days after the organisation produced the first-ever FIFA Club World Cup halftime show, headlined by Coldplay with support from Australian artist Emmanuel Kelly and others.
Global Citizen mobilised in Australia for the first time in May 2024, with the Global Citizen NOW action summit in Melbourne, wrappping with a live music event, headlined by Crowded House performing a free, ticketed event at the Palais Theatre.
