It's a huge day for local music, with the Hilltop Hoods officially confirmed as having sold over a million records in Australia.

If you're reading this, there's probably a good chance that you've got an album from the Hilltop Hoods in your collection.

Maybe you're an OG with a copy of A Matter Of Time in your collection, or maybe you've been so inspired by their chart success that 2019's The Great Expanse was the latest addition to your library?

Earlier this year, the Aussie hip-hop crew made music history when they released their latest effort, giving them their eighth chart-topping record, and giving them the record for most #1 albums by a band or group on the Aussie charts.

Of course, the group are still quite a ways off from holding the overall record of most #1 albums, with the likes of Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham (both with nine chart-topping albums), and The 12th Man (seven albums) all standing in their way.

Now though, they've got a whole new reason to celebrate, with the announcement that the Hilltop Hoods have now sold over one million records in Australia.

Ever since 2003's The Calling helped bring the group to widespread recognition, they've been unstoppable ever since, with every subsequent album topping the ARIA charts, and each record boasting high-charting singles that have made the trio national favourites.

The news comes just months after the Hilltop Hoods played to a record-breaking crowd at the MCG while supporting Eminem on his Rapture tour, and shortly after wrapping up their latest Aussie trek, performing to over 80,000 fans along the way.

With the group set to now take their Great Expanse tour around the world, you can be sure that the accolades are going to keep on pouring in for one of Australia's most successful and beloved musical outfits.
