Global Cities After Dark looking at solutions for Sydney’s future

In its third instalment, Global Cities After Dark has an added urgency as Sydney looks set for a new post-lockout era of night-time activity and global appeal.

Coming together on November 15 are international and Australian experts, as well as government policymakers, health and safety officers, hospitality figures, and inspirational visionaries, to help take the steps forward.

Sydney music manager Jane Slingo (Set Mo) and Amsterdam ‘night mayor’ Mirik Milan (who will both deliver the closing keynote), have tapped night culture specialists from across the globe.

They include Kae Burke, the co-founder of Brooklyn’s infamous theatre infused nightclub and creative collective House of Yes, San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development‘s Ben Van Houten, HafenCity University Hamburg’s professor of cultural theory and cultural practice Gesa Ziemer, and city data scientist Holger Prang.

There’s also senior prevention worker Judith Noijen from Amsterdam’s Jellinek, an expert health organisation specialising in alcohol, drugs and addiction.

Domestic speakers include Federal Police Commissioner Mick Palmer, Australian Festivals Association and Fuzzy Director Adelle Robinson, and Division Agency’s Kiran Da Silva.
