Gemma Pike departs triple j as broadcaster reveals 2022 slate

Australian youth broadcaster triple j has announced more changes for 2022.

Among them is confirmation that its assistant music director, Gemma Pike (pictured, above), has left the ABC after 10 years to "pursue other exciting opportunities".

She also departs as host of The J Files on Double J, with Caz Tran replacing her.

The departure of Pike follows the exit of the Hack’s Avani Dias and The Hook Up’s Nat Tencic, both of which were reported by TMN in November.

Dylan Lewis will no longer host Weekends on Double J, but according to the ABC, Lewis will "remain part of the Double J family" in 2022. He is replaced by Angharad Yeo.

Also announced on Monday is a new show, soul ctrl, hosted by triple j’s Tyrone Pynor for lovers of neo-soul, RNB and smooth jams. It will air every Monday from 9pm.

“I’m excited for soul ctrl to be the space that teenage Tyrone wanted," Pynor said.

"Soul, neo-soul and R&B are such a big part of my life and it's exciting to see a community of artists in Australia continually growing.

"Now, for two hours straight on a Monday night I’ll be playing you the best new music from these genres, and I can’t wait to really build something together.”

Triple j’s Australian music show, Home & Hosed, has been brought forward by an hour from 8pm to 9pm every Monday to Thursday with returning host Declan Byrne.

Meanwhile, triple j's specialist shows The Racket, Short Fast Loud, The Hip Hop Show and all-new soul ctrl will be brought forward to air from 9pm to 11pm.
