Luke Byatt Sells Futuremag Music to Brooklyn Gibbs (EXCLUSIVE)

Australian blog Futuremag Music is under new leadership, TMN can exclusively confirm.

Founded in 2015 by Luke Byatt, the publication has built a cult following within the underground electronic music scene. It has published over 1,000 pieces of content since its launch.

Byatt - who is currently streaming and playlist manager at TMRW Music - is now passing on the mantle to Brooklyn Gibbs, who immediately becomes the outlet's new owner and editor.

Gibbs has already appointed Patrick Staveley as assistant editor.

The title has covered everything from hallmark events on the Australian circuit (Splendour In The Grass, Listen Out, This That + More), to providing artists with some of their first clips (Audrey Nuna, Nadine Lustre, CIFIKA + More), while offering local acts their initial foothold into the media space (Vlossom, Luke Alessi, Skeler, Taka Perry + More).

Byatt said he is "beyond proud" that Futuremag Music has become an institution in the industry.

"As I focus on other ventures, I wanted to pass Futuremag Music onto a party whose dedication to promoting underground artists and independent media matched my vision," he told TMN. "I couldn't be happier to have Brooklyn and Patrick forge the publication into the future."

Gibbs is a music journalist who has been published by The Brag, Happy Mag, The NT News, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Australian.

"As someone who has previously written for Futuremag Music, I recognise how valuable an independent publication like this is to emerging artists," she said.

"The publication will continue to support and promote underground artists.

"I really love what Luke has done with Futuremag Music, so fans of the publication can still expect the quality and personal glimpses into the music scene that Futuremag Music is known for."

Gibbs also said it will expand beyond electronic music to include a mix of other genres.
