Adelaide arts communications agency Against The Grain will deliver a series of free, DIY public relations strategy sessions for mid-career musicians and arts workers.

The ATG Sessions are tailored to assist artists as COVID restrictions gradually lift. The eight sessions will include one-on-one campaign meetings, access to media contacts, EPK creation, drafting a press release and updating existing biographical material.

The ultimate goal of the sessions are to upskill participants in PR and publicity, giving them the ability to run their own campaigns successfully.

“COVID has pushed the Australian arts and music sectors to the brink. Gigging had stopped, clubs, venues and theatres closed, thousands were left without work and businesses small and large shut their doors,” said Against The Grain director Leigh McGrane.

“As the industry continues to work through a roadmap out of COVID we want to play our small part to help the Australian music and arts sector to get back on its feet. For us, we can contribute by helping Australian artists prepare their own re-emergence strategy from the COVID haze into 2021 and beyond."

The sessions are supported by the state government's Music Development Office. Applications for the ATG Sessions close May 14, with successful applicants notified within a week.
