Four Queensland musicians secure state funding to further careers

Four musicians were among 12 Queenslanders sharing in $80,000 of arts grants.

Four musicians were among 12 Queensland artists sharing in $80,000 from the Palaszczuk government via Arts Queensland to help develop skills and take a step forward in their careers.

Arts minister Leeanne Enoch said “Arts Queensland’s Individuals Fund helps propel careers to new heights and gives artists the chance to develop new markets and audiences for their work both nationally and internationally.

“This initiative allows Queensland artists to improve and inform their practice by connecting with leading arts practitioners and companies right across the globe.”

Pete Murray received $9810 to support a solo tour of England, The Netherlands and Germany, to develop audience and commercial opportunities, including 10 shows this month.

Brisbane singer-songwriter Andrew Tuttle got a grant of $5000 to increase his market profile in the UK and Europe behind his new album on Room40, have meetings with music industry and media executives and do 18 shows with his friend, US songwriter Ryley Walker.

19-year old Miiesha Young of Woorabinda will use her $10,000 towards the recording of original, contemporary, RnB-soul music collection through collaboration with Melbourne-based producer and studio to build understanding between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

Emily Blitner received $8222 to develop profile and industry relationships in the Canadian market by showcasing at Folk Alliance International in Montreal and undertaking industry meetings to secure agent, management and label deals.
