Former Deputy PM of NZ drags Jacinda Ardern over Spotify playlist

Well there's a headline we never thought we'd have the displeasure of writing.

Paula Bennett, the former deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand, has called out Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern over a... Spotify playlist.

Ardern created a playlist for New Zealand Music Month, which included tracks from the country's global exports Lorde and Broods, along with seminal tracks from the likes of Dave Dobbyn, The Mutton Birds and Shapeshifter.

For some inexplicable reason not clear to any rational mind, Paula Bennett felt the need to tweet out her thoughts on the playlist, including the line "I thought running the country was a full time job."

However, in the beautiful way the internet works when a member of the community is wrongfully bullied, Ardern's supporters have come forward to jog Bennett's memory.

The Spinoff editor Toby Manhire reminded Bennett of the Guns N' Roses live review she wrote for the publication - while serving as Deputy PM.

The replies keep pouring in, with many offering further proof of how Bennett made time for music during her time held at office.

In one of the over 300 replies, Labour MP Deborah Russell reminded her of the time she sang 'Natural Woman' on a National Campaign bus.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern hasn't responded to the tweet. Perhaps she too busy celebrating the incredible New Zealand music industry which brings in $484 million a year to the country's economy.
