Several special guests have been confirmed for Ed Sheeran's forthcoming Australia and New Zealand have been revealed.

With a whopping 3.1 million tickets sold Down Under in his career to date, the English pop icon's 'Loop Tour' is set to continue his dominance in the region early next year.

Announced today, he'll be joined by Vance Joy, Mia Wray, BIIRD, and Aaron Rowe at select shows through January-March.

Aussie singer-songwriter Joy, who broke through over a decade ago with mammoth hit "Riptide", will support Sheeran at all of his Australia and New Zealand shows.

"I feel very fortunate to be getting to open for Ed around Australia and New Zealand. He is a legendary artist. I am inspired by his songwriting and by his ability to hold any crowd no matter the size in the palm of his hand, and just by the way he goes about it all. It’s going to be a great run and I’m excited to get to play a part in it! What a pleasure!" Joy shares.

Wray will also act as support at all AU/NZ shows, fresh from earning an ARIA nomination for the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist award.

"I saw Ed Sheeran play in Brisbane 2013 and it blew my mind. The first cover I ever uploaded to YouTube was ‘A Team’, so it’s such a huge honour to be asked to support him, I can’t bloody wait," Wray says.

All-female Irish trad supergroup BIIRD, meanwhile, will join Sheeran's tour in New Zealand and Perth, while rising star Aaron Rowe will play at the Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Adelaide shows.

Sheeran's tour follows the release of his new album, Play, featuring notable singles such as "Azizam", "Sapphire", and "Old Phone". The album is described as "an explorative, technicolour pop album that captures the fun, chaos, and heart of an artist reinvigorated by life and travel."
