Don West is the next Australian artist to receive the RADAR treatment.

The Sydney soul man was unveiled last week at the Sydney leg of 'Spotify’s Turn Up Aus: The Export Edition' roadshow, where he performed live for the industry gathering.

“What an honour it is to be part of Spotify’s RADAR program and join so many incredible artists that have come before me,” he remarked. “Spotify has been incredible in its support for my music, which has given me the opportunity to grow my audience around the world.”

West completed his debut national headline tour last December, presented by Live Nation and triple j, and will embark on another outing this December, including spots on the Spilt Milk festival. In the virtual world, he's closing in on 3 million Spotify followers.

With RADAR approval, West can expect to feature in the RADAR playlist, and enjoy promotional support for upcoming releases, on-platform marketing, bespoke content, and social media promotion.

AUNZ RADAR launched in 2020, and has welcomed such homegrown talents to the program as Royel Otis, grentperez, Youngn Lipz, Genesis Owusu, Baker Boy, merci mercy, CHAII, and in 2024, Fazerdaze and Young Franco.

Over time, Spotify has backed over 750 RADAR-affiliated emerging artists in more than 180 markets through editorial and marketing at a tipping point in their career.

For West, new music is on the way. "My debut album could not be in safer hands with this partnership," he adds, "and I am so excited about working with their teams into the future."

Spotify presented export data at separate events presented at Ovolo Woolloomooloo (Wednesday, July 9th) and The Wool Mills (Friday, July 11th). Speakers included Spotify’s Global Head of Editorial, Sullina Ong, Spotify ANZ Head of Music, Ben Watts, Sounds Australia’s Estie Zilber, JJ Italiano (Global Head of Music Curation & Discovery, LA), Ronny Ho (Head of Dance & Electronic Development, NY), and Chesca Tan (Lead Editor, Philippines).
