Brisbane's Hatchie takes out 2018 Mushroom Music Publishing Recording Grant

QLD-based singer-songwriter Hatchie, aka Harriette Pilbeam, has picked up the 2018 Mushroom Music Publishing Recording Grant.

As a part of the award, Pilbeam will a non-recoupable recording grant of $10,000 to help fund her debut album.

"Australia’s polyphony queen, Harriette Pilbeam gets under your skin with her enchanting dream pop; layered with harmonies, huge pop hooks and jangly guitars.  She is effortlessly cool and a mesmerising performer,” said Mushroom's head of A&R Linda Bosidis.

“Mushroom Music is a creative publisher, we want to support career progression and we want to hear more recordings of original material.”

Pilbeam will put the funds towards recording the follow up to her 2017 debut EP Sugar & Spice.

"I am very honoured to be the recipient of the 2018 MMP Recording Grant. This will allow me to finish my debut album, which I am currently recording with John Castle. Mushroom has been so supportive, I am very lucky to be able to work with them," Pilbeam said.

2018 makes the sixth instance of the grant with previous recipients including Rolling Blackout Costal Fever, Fraser A. Gorman, D.D Dumbo, Dorsal Fins and The Laurels.
