Niche Agency signs Harvey Sutherland
Sutherland emerged in Melbourne's electronic underground scene.
Niche Talent Agency has signed Melbourne soul, disco and funk producer Harvey Sutherland.
Born Mike Katz, he emerged in the city’s electronic underground scene and began to make a series of 12” records.
They were championed by global tastemakers like Gilles Peterson, Jamie xx, Disclosure and The Black Madonna.
He formed a band and gigged around the world, including festival stints at Glastonbury, Nuits Sonores, Meredith Music, Splendour In The Grass and Freedom Time.
Ever willing to break outside the rules of dance music, among his side projects were performing an original cinematic disco suite alongside the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and directing an east coast tour with an 11-piece band in support of New York boogie identity Leroy Burgess.
