BMG has confirmed the signing of Dope Lemon (Aka Angus Stone) to the label for a global recording deal.

Stone's second album with the project will be released through BMG, while the deal also includes the rights to previous Dope Lemon releases (excluding Australia & New Zealand).

The first track from the record, 'Hey You' was released earlier this month via the BMG imprint.

That release came with the announcement that Dope Lemon's second LP will be titled Smooth Big Cat to be released on July 12.

“Really stoked to be working with BMG for this new Dope Lemon record," said Angus Stone.

"Super proud of this record and the team backing it feels like family already. Can’t wait for release!”

Stone's first Dope Lemon album Honey Bones was released in 2016, peaking at #1 on the ARIA Albums chart.

“Dope Lemon’s Smooth Big Cat is a vibe-soaked sonic triumph," said BMG Australia managing director Heath Johns.

"BMG is proud to come on board as Dope Lemon’s global record label and we are honoured to work with Angus Stone, one of the most successful and talented musicians in modern Australian music history”.

The deal sees Dope Lemon join an international recordings roster including The Prodigy, At The Drive-In, Nick Cave, Alt-J and Of Mice & Men

Dope Lemon is set for a national tour of Australia kicking off on August 2 in Sydney, and including a set at Splendour in the Grass 2o19.

Stone will then take the project to the UK & Europe for an extensive run of dates.
