Michael Hutchence's 'Spill The Wine' gets red hot start on Triple M

Aussie music icon Michael Hutchence is impacting radio with his cover of a classic funk/soul hit.

‘Spill The Wine’ is the first single taken from the upcoming documentary soundtrack Mystify - Michael Hutchence, and has been quick to find a home on the Triple M network. 

Sydney and Melbourne stations have adopted the track across the board, while Triple M Newcastle, Greatest Hits, Aussie Digital and 92.5 GOLD FM are also behind the single.

“Michael along with the INXS boys have always been a part of our Triple M DNA," head of music Mickey Maher tells TMN.

"Michael sadly may not be with us anymore, but with Mystify about to hit our shores and with a new (albeit a cover) song from Michael at our disposal, I think it's important we allow his fans to hear it."

Long-time INXS manager Chris M. Murphy and close friend Mark Edwards unearthed and remastered Hutchence's version of the Eric Burdon/War classic at London’s Abbey Road Studios.

"We are entering an exciting period of rediscovery of their (INXS) legacy and a reassessment of their place in music history,” Murphy says.

It’s been 13 years since INXS last appeared on the TMN Hot 100. ‘Afterglow’ peaked at #22 in 2006, with J.D. Fortune replacing Hutchence after the singer's passing in 1997. 

‘One Of My Kind’ (#28) by Rogue Traders vs INXS is officially Hutchence's last credited entry on the chart.

The 2003 single is a remix of the Aussie band’s ARIA Gold-certified ‘Need You Tonight’, one of the many hits written and performed by Hutchence during the ‘80s and '90s.
