The Kid LAROI makes US chart history with Billboard 200 #1 album

Australia's own The Kid LAROI has made chart history after hitting the top spot on the US Billboard 200 with his debut project F*ck Love.

The mixtape, which was first released in July of 2020 and twice received the deluxe treatment with F*ck Love: Savage and F*ck Love: Over You, has now lingered on the American album charts for a whopping 53 weeks.

However, it was last week's release of F*ck Love: Over You that finally saw LAROI take out the top position, with the project being fuelled by the rampant success of his recent Justin Bieber collaboration 'Stay'.

LAROI now becomes the first Australian solo artist to top the Billboard 200 since 2014 when Sia debuted at #1 with 1000 Forms of Fear, and becomes the first Australian male solo act to attain the position on the US album charts since Keith Urban in 2013.

The 17-year-old Waterloo rapper's latest chart triumph also makes him the first Indigenous Australian to ever achieve a #1 record on the US Billboard 200, and sees him become the youngest artist to top the charts since Billie Eilish in 2019.

Reacting to his latest achievement, The Kid LAROI took to his socials to express his elation.

"If someone told me that I’d have a number one ANYTHING let alone an album three years ago when I was in Australia I’d say that’s bloody ridiculous," he said.

"Seriously I know I say this a lot, but thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am nothing without you guys and it makes me so mf happy that this project has connected with y’all in the way that it has."

The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber's 'Stay' currently sits at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and a cruisy #3 on the UK Top 40, while at home, the track has managed to retain its top spot on the ARIA Singles Chart for the third week in a row.
